Regarding SimpleModal, wouldn't this accomplish what you are looking
for?

$.modal('<iframe src="http://www.ericmmartin.com"; id="iframeTest"
name="iframeTest" height="450" width="830" style="border:0" />', {
        closeHTML:"",
        overlayClose:true,
        containerCss: {height:450,  width:830}
});

That's with SimpleModal v1.3.
