Hey good job discovering the fix yourself and sorry no one managed to
respond.  This list is high volume and occasionally a note does go by
without getting addressed.  If the issue isnt solved while you are waiting,
and you dont get a response, try reposting to a new thread and see if you
can't make the subject more concise, like "Help with a simple animation",
many developers will probably jump at the opportunity to help if they feel
like the subject conveys a meaningful message they can easily understand.

Also this particular question is probably better suited to the jquery-en
list, not jquery-ui.
