Hi Kevin, this mailing list is indeed the appropriate place to discuss suggestions, and it was right to post your idea here.
While it's true that actual code is supposed to be entered as ticket/patch, Jörns answer was insufficient, and could have been friendlier - I apologize in my name. Again, to the actual topic - I think providing a "update" or refresh method for all UI widgets makes perfect sense, and it would be excellent if you could file a ticket for it.
