Is there any progress on this issue? I've been using VML in the application I'm developing...but I do most of my development work in FF. I upgraded to jQuery 1.3.1 / UI 1.6rc6. Everything seemed fine - VML still works in some cases, but it seems that as soon as something alters the style property of a VML element, that's the end. It's very hard to debug, but if I can help in any way let me know.
