I'm not sure that this can be easily done.  Here is a stab at it:

I don't like the approach though because it has to use a timeout to
let the calendar render.  Also, it does not have code to discern which
calendar it is changing if there are multiple ones.  So as a
disclaimer, I wouldn't use this; but I put it there for you to get an
idea and a start on how to do something like this.

Also, I realized that it might be nice to have some events for _after_
the calendar renders such as afterShow and afterShowDay.  Maybe this
is already a feature request.  I'll leave that one up to you.
