Well, the inability to start the admin service suggests that you have more than
one instance of JRun running but don't have a unique port for the admin service.
Do you have more than one instance running? If not intentionally then you may
have an old one hung somewhere, in which case you should use TaskManager or ps
to find all javaw and jsm processes and kill them before trying to restart.
CFSERVLET has known bugs which make it single threaded and prone to running out
of sockets. It doesn't happen with just a single hit on any page though, it
only happens when you are running the same or several pages for a duration of at
least (I believe) 100 hits. That's a CF bug for which you can get an early
release patch from Allaire on Monday if you call tech support or just email me
and remind me and I'll try to hook you up.
Hope this helps,
Scott Stirling

Subject: RE: JRun Startup Error
Scott,
Sorry about the short description that apparently irritated you. The JRun
installed at our production server has become a big issue last week. It all
started with the JRun server process (Running on NT) took 100% of the CPU
utilization. Also, very often it had to be re-started because of the
'Connection failure' messages it was giving in any CF pages that have
CFSERVELET tags. Since we could not afford to shutdown the server, I (a DBA
that has been given an additional temporary responsibility to maintain the
web site) who is looking for ways to solve the problem before Monday. We are
running JRun 2.3.3. Do you or anybody in the forum think an upgrade will
help solve the problem ? I really appreciate your help on this.
Anton

Solving undigested problems is unrewarding and tedious. What do you think
the
log's telling you? It's pointing out the problem. Do you need help with
the
solution?
