That's a weird InstallShield 6.0 problem. We're using InstallShield 6.2
to build our windows installer and hopefully this could resolve issue
like this - JRun Service Pack 1 is using IS6.2.

Subject: RE: Jrun 2.3.3 to 3.0 upgrade error - please help
Hi Matt
We had similar problem when reinstalling JRun 3 on NT. We have not yet been
able to do a clean install of JRun 3 on machines that reported the error you
saw. It sucked. I was finally able to get jrun running, though, by manually
copying the jrun directory from a machine that had a working copy and also
exporting and then importing about 5 registry trees that looked like they
had to do with jrun.
They were:
LocalMachine\Software\Allaire\JRun
LocalMachine\Software\Allaire\JRun 3.0
LocalMachine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App
Paths\jrun.exe
LocalMachine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\JRun Admin
LocalMachine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\JRun Default
This worked and the JRun service seems just fine. I really wish I knew what
the problem was though. If you find a clean way to get out of this situation
please post it back on the list.
Good luck
Mark

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to upgrade my version of Jrun to 3.0 on Windows NT 4.0 (IBM)
I stopped the current version and started the install program for the
Upgrade package and get the following error:
*Setup failed to launch installation engine. Server execution failed.
So I checked the event viewer and saw the following message:
**Unable to start a DCOM server. error:
"%1 is not a valid windows application."
Happened while starting this command: C:\Program
Files\CommonFiles\InstallShield\engine\6\Intel32\IKernal.exe -Embedding
|
Has anyone seen this before??? If so, is there a way around what is
causing it???
Thanks in advance.
Matt Goss
