You're using what, the Sun 1.3 JVM or the Blackdown?  Did you compile it
specifically for Connectiva Linux?  I would reckon the problem is the JVM on
that particular flavor of Linux.  Ideally they would all be the same, but there
are minor (yet significant) difference in the libraries and sometimes the
kernels (customizations) in different distros.

I've never heard of Connectiva Linux.  What's their twist?

The IBM and Sun 1.3 JVMs have been tested with JRun on RedHat Linux 6.x and 7.0,
and they work fine.
