Chris,
I was having the same problem. The solution is very easy!
were ever jrun default server is installed (mine is: C:\program
files\allaire\jrun\servers\default\)
open the directory for your new application.
next open the directory /Web-inf.
Now open the file web.xml.
the first line will be:
<!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, inc.// DTD Web
Application 1.2//EN" "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd">
you can either delete this line completely (and it will still work!it just
will not validate)
or you can change the line to read
(where ever your jrun lib directory is)
<!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, inc.// DTD Web
Application 1.2//EN" "C:\program files\allaire\jrun\lib\web-app_2_2.dtd">
there is very little danger in deleting this line.
the problem is that jrun is trying to validate this document by downloading
a dtd and it is timing out before the download will complete.
give this a try!

Subject: JMC - unable to edit application properties
This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
I've created a new application called myApp, and I am unable to
change any of the application properties in the JMC. When I try
to give the application an "Application Description" in the Edit
Application page I get the following error:
Please correct the
following errors and click
'update' again:
Can not save
local.properties in
default|myApp: Cannot
write to directory null
I am also unable to change any properties under the myApp folder
in the JMC (such as Application Variables, File Settings, etc.)
I tried to find the local.properties file for myApp, but I
can't! It is not anywhere in the <jrun_root>/servers/default
directory tree, nor is it in the directory tree where myApp is
stored.
Has anyone else seen this. I am running JRun 3.0.1 (the
development version).
Thanks,
Chris Morris
