The thought of using Access as a Enterprise database sounds ugly to me, but
MS SQL Server is fine. I have used MS SQL server + JRun on a number of
projects and I have never had any (major) problems. Using the Sun JDBC-ODBC
driver to access the database is not an option. This is a limitation of the
driver (not JRun), because it has difficulties running in a threaded
environment, such as a Java Web server. (I can't tell you why).
If you wish to use a JDBC-ODBC bridge then you could try using Microsoft's
implementation - but this will require having some native Microsoft
libraries on the machine. An alternative is use one of the many MS SQL
server drivers avaiable on the web. In the past we have used JTurbo
(www.jturbo.com) which was v. good.

Subject: Suggestions for running JRun 3 and MS Access or MS SQL?
Would someone who is successfully using JRun 3 and MS Access or MS SQL
Server mind giving me a few pointers? I can't get any database-driven pages
to search the database, although I can get them to list records. Apparently
there's a problem when using Sun's JDBC-ODBC bridge in conjunction with JRun
3.
Can anyone recommend any of the drivers listed on Sun's page for Access or
SQL Server? Or is it generally assumed that if you're using JSP you're going
to go with an enterprise RDBMS like Oracle or DB2?
Thanks for any assistance.
Regards,
Marc Garrett
