Of course the example from the book won't work with JRun, that's what we've
been talking about! The reason the example from the book doesn't work is a
compiler error unique to Jikes, which we already discussed. When I wrote
the book, I tested these things on JRun, Resin, Tomcat and Orion. I don't
know why I didn't fix that example to deal with the Jikes problem, but it
will only happen on JRun _with_ Jikes.
I was talking about the examples I sent in email the other day, which will
not cause Jikes to throw that compile-time error.
I'll test those on Windows just to make sure, so hang in there. :->
