I have seen this with certain versions of IE 5.0. Not sure what's causing it
but it went away when I installed a newer build of IE.
My guess is that you'll have the same problem when opening the docs from the
JRun documentation page, too.
I'm still at IE 5.0 but will upgrade to 5.5 to see if it happens to me.

I find that whenever I try to view the online docs from the JMC welcome page
that for things like devapp.pdf I get an empty window in IE 5.5 - seems to
be some problem, I'm not sure what it is. The files are on my disk and I
can easily view them by invoking Acrobat on them from explorer or the
command line.
