Actually, if all you're trying to do is run a servlet, you don't need to do
anything fancy at all. Take the servlet class file and move it into
/opt/JRun/servers/myserver/myapp/WEB-INF/classes. That's it. Assuming
you've created an application mapping of "/myapp" for this application, and
your servlet is called "myservlet", you'd request it by entering the
following:
http://localhost/myapp/myservlet
If you've got an application that's more complex than a single servlet, and
you want to deploy/redeploy the app to one or more machines, a war file is a
convenient way to package everything into a single file (jar format) for
redistribution. In your case, you don't need to use the deploy tool.
As far as the JMC producing core files, with the exception of the native web
server connector (NSAPI for your NES server), JRun is 100% Java, which means
it executes within the JVM, right along side of your servlet. And since
Java itself doesn't core dump, the JMC is not responsible. The most likely
culprit is the JVM itself. Here's a KB article which provides more detail
on this subject:

Hope this helps - good luck!

Subject: Having trouble deploy something...3 questions....
Going nowhere trying to deploy a Hello World anything (servlet, JSP, war,
jar) to our JRun server. I hope someone here has the experience to help me
out!
Architecture:
The server is running Solaris,
with the Jrun connector to a Netscape Enterprice Server 3.63 instance.
Note: I did read the pdf documentation about deployment. It seems to be a
cursory overview
Note: I am using the JMC. This tool seems to cored ump half the time I
submit a form, I get page not founds, etc....I need to restart the admin
server process to continue !! LOL.
Progress:
I have had the unix admin guys set up a JRun server, called myserver.
Then, I created a web application, which created:
/opt/JRun/servers/myserver/myapp
Now, I would like to deploy something to this server.
I have set "Application Deploy Directory" to /opt/JRun/servers/myserver
----------
QUESTION: I didnt make a WAR file. I just have a single servlet file.
What directory do I put it in?
----------
QUESTION:
Note: I have set "Application Deploy Directory" to
/opt/JRun/servers/myserver
What do I select for "servlet WAR file or directory"
I selected: /opt/JRun/servers/myserver/myapp/
Here is the error I get:
Can't find resource key "Deploy.fileCopyFailed" in base name
allaire/jrun/tools/resource.properties
----------
QUESTION: The deploy screen asks me for an application URL, yet I already
entered on when I created the application. What's the difference? Should
they be the same or different?
----------
Thanks for ANY help!
