The response.reset() works. Now I can choose outputStream or JspWriter to
deliver the content as you mention. Thanks a lot.

hi,
you should use

response.reset();
..... =response.getOutputStream();

instead of just getOutputStream(). After resetting response object, you may
choose how to deliver content, either in text mode, response.getWriter(), or
in binary mode using response.getOutputStream().
