I suggest trying a Profiling Tool like OptimizeIt.  You can download a copy
and use it for 15 days.  I installed it with JRun 3.0 -- don't even have to
recompile the code.  I haven't actually studied the memory information it
gives, but it worked great to help me find what functions were holding up my
program, reducing a 60 second task to under 10 seconds.
