"Well, the next version of CF is based on JRun; Macromedia Generator is
based on JRun; so killing JRun would cascade delete CF and Generator. I
find it hard to believe that Macromedia bought Allaire just for the Studio
products."

I actually went to the link where the rumor was. It's at f**ckedcompany.com
(fill in the **). If you do a search on JRun you'll get to it....I don't
have the direct link at the moment.

Anyway, I read through the whole thread which only very few were relevant
to the topic and worth reading...WHEW!! (taking out all the cr*p stuff
people talked about in there which were way out of focus and some very
tasteless comments and ego tripping....) few commented on the topic and
basically said about the same thing as the above statement from the
consultant. Basically, it wouldn't make sense to stop JRun development
because if they are integrating their products with JRun as the backend so
seems to be the plan which makes sense. I hope that's the real reason they
bought Allaire (which that was my initial impression from press
releases, etc. which seemed to be a joining of products going into the
future). Comments were made on lack of R&D, so they tend to buy companies,
but then, very good products have come out of their R&D development which
someone else commented...hard to establish whats opinions drawn from
people, and what's fact...so you have to read a lot of bullsh*t to try to
get to the story. Sounds like they do tend to buy products, but further
devlopment them....a little of both....someone from Macromedia may confirm
better how they actually do operate.

So, as I see it, the rumor doesn't make sense and this is just an added
confirmation from the consultant's point of view above.

For now, I see it as just a rumor but will retain a little of my
skepticism. :-)
