Yes, 3.1 comes with a new improved custom tag library. Unfortunately, its
<sql> custom tag will perform only SELECT queries to an Oracle data source
using the Oracle thin driver. My application requires UPDATE, INSERT &
DELETE queries as well.
This is a documented (but as-yet unaddressed) bug with the
Allaire/Macromedia folks, #26844 according to the JRun forums.
It's less work for me to replace the 3.1 custom tag lib with the 3.0 version
than it is for me to kill the JRun 3.1 installation and re-install JRun 3.0
SP2. My question to the community is whether anyone knows whether this is
likely to cause more problems than it solves -- I have already verified that
I can UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE and SELECT using my Oracle data source by doing
this.
