The JRun Enterprise Deployment Wizard is a Swing-based utility that assists JRun developers in the creation, packaging and deployment of EJBs. It can be run as a command line utility or it can be installed into your favorite IDE (current support is limited to JBuilder). Its menu-driven interface steps you through defining an EJB and editing its deployment descriptor. The utility uses existing EJBs and can optionally generate skeleton code for the home interface, remote interface, and bean implementation for new EJBs. It also can package components and deploy them to JRun. Key features of the JRun Enterprise Deployment Wizard include the following: - Create Home/Remote/Bean Template files for both session and entity beans. - Create and edit EJB Deployment Descriptors. - Package one or more components into a JAR for JRun deployment. - Deploy, redeploy and undeploy EJBs to JRun Server. - Run within Borland's JBuilder. Fully integrated with JBuilder projects. - Run as a stand alone utility from a command line. - Complete, context-sensitive online Help system. The JRun Enterprise Deployment Wizard supports the application developer, application assembler, and deployer roles, as follows: The application developer uses the EJB tab to define basic aspects of an EJB, such as type (stateful session bean, stateless session bean, BMP entity bean, or CMP entity bean), transaction usage (BMT or CMT), resource references, EJB references, env entries, and so on. The application assembler uses the Assembly Descriptor tab to define security roles, method permissions, and transactional attributes. The application assembler also uses the Package tab to compile the beans and package them into a JAR file. The deployer uses the deploy tab to add one or more EJBs to a JRun server. The deploy tab also allows you to remove a bean from a JRun server. You invoke the JRun Enterprise Deployment Wizard online Help system by clicking the Help button on any window, which opens a browser displaying procedural information for that window. The Help system includes procedural information, conceptual information, index search, and full-text search. Beta 1 is functionally complete and includes integration with Borland's JBuilder IDE. Other Java IDEs will be supported in the future.
