John, I wanted to say thanks again for helping me out with the Synchronization of JRun and JBuilder -- you no doubt saved my livelihood.
You had asked me to document anything that would help other users. I've been a little reluctant because I'm not sure how much of it is due to my lack of knowledge; but then it dawned on me that if I list out some stuff you can determine what should be conveyed. I also don't know but that those parameters that you sent me weren't the missing link and might have avoided all the rest of the situation. Here are a couple of things that I struggled with/might have helped... 1.. The instructions for setting up the JRun library and making Jrun the main class caused my application to not work at all (since it's a servlet); and I don't believe that there's anyway to get it out of the project properties in Jbuilder 7 once it's in there. Having a disclaimer to not use that methodology if working on a servlet would have kept me from going down that path. 2.. Documenting that using "netstat -a" from the command window to see if JRun is "listening" on the port that was specified in the JBuilder debug settings is a good way to determine if the JRun debugger strings have been set-up successfully. Of course, once it works it's hard to remember what all was missing; but without you -- I'd still be looking for windows to jump out of.
