Hi,
While I was looking at adopting JSch-0.1.46 for Eclipse, I noticed that JSch's
compression support currently cannot be used at Eclipse because there is no
OSGi bundle for jzlib (Eclipse Bug 343416
[1]<https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=343416>).
So when looking at adopting jzlib for Eclipse, I noticed that Java Bug 4255743
[2]<http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4255743> (lack of
Z_PARTIAL_FLUSH in the JRE's implementation of jzlib) has been marked as
resolved in Java 7.
I'm wondering what this means for JSch. Would it make sense to make JSch's
Compression support pluggable such that it can optionally leverage the Java 7
zlib support when it's available? And, would that work while at the same time
keeping JSch compatible with J2SE-1.4 level JRE's (with respect to the
classfile format) ? And for me personally, does it still make any sense to
adopt jzlib for Eclipse ?
Many thanks for any insight,
Martin
