You can, according to this link, embed a stylesheet within an XML document. http://www.w3.org/Style/styling-XML.html#Embedded
I recommend using an external stylesheets for a more efficiency and cleaner document. The only reason to bundle presentation data within an XML document is to address portability concerns associated with multiple files. If portability is not your problem then use an external stylesheet. Furthermore "style" and "class" attributes will not work in XML the way you would expect them to work in HTML. XML does not have predefined vocabulary with extended functionality the way HTML does. XML is syntax and not a vocabulary.
