I'd like to add here that, for the - possibly rare - occasion when you're not sure about the future of your routine's implementation (regarding usage), passing an object is a nice way to not have to rewrite dozens of calls everytime you change something to the function's signature. Given that JavaScript's primarily being used for web-related programming, things could change a lot, and fast. I'm still in favor of being pragmatic.
