I expect that in the longer run the editing capabilities of browsers are going to improve.
There are already several interesting efforts at W3C such as UndoManager API or Clipboard API. Hopefully there will be also full hardware acceleration so that DOM performance won't be an issue any longer. Besides that, I'm too lazy to learn native frameworks...
