The event touchstart is the right one to use. Can you show us some code and 
explain in a bit more detail what you're
trying to do?

Here's an example (untested) of some code that should do what I think you're 
trying to do:

document.querySelector('.hoverable').addEventListener('touchstart', function 
(e) {
    this.className = 'hover';
});
