I subscribe to a few lists that have both a forum interface and a listserv interface. I prefer to get the emails, because I can sort, save, and delete them at will from my inbox. But if I wonder if a topic has been discussed, I can go to the forum and search.
I would forget to go check the forum for new messages if there were not an email feature.
