Yes, that is easily possible, both are treated by the PC as differnt
audio devices, and appear as seperate devices in 'device manager' etc.
In the windows audio options, where it says 'choose default device',
you end up with the two devices showing; I think on my PC I have about
four devices there showing, the PC chipset audio device, the external
USB soundcard I use for sonar, and then things like my USB skype phone
which shows up as an audio device. Once the soundcards are installed
on the windows machine, you can chose which is in use by sonar, and as
described before, set JAWS to use the PCs built in sound chipset, and
then from in sonar itself you can set the inputs and outputs to the
audiophile soundcard. Simularly in things like Windows media player
and other media players, if you've got more than one audio ouput on
your machine, you can set itto use which you like in the media
player's options.

If you wanted you could even have two PCI cards fitted into the
machine though with some of them you need to ensure that the drivers
arn't going to conflict with each other; for example I seem to recall
the Soundblaster type cards use a very simular driver to some of the
E-Mu cards like the 0404 and so they don't like co-existing together
on the Same PC. At one point, for example, on my computer here, I had
the PC built in sound chip for use with JAWS, a PCI internal fitted
soundcard (the E-Mu 0404 ), and the external USB soudn card, plus the
skype phone which also appears as an 'audio device', and I'm sure I
also had some other device which was effectively treated as a
soundcard by the PC, though I can't for the life of me remember what
that was now...
