Don't think so.  It just blends with what's already there.  Cloning is the
best wway.

If you use sound on sound, will it keep each take of the track/clip in a
file for each take? If so, how do you get to each file and tell what clip is

Hi there.
It sounds like you only need to change recording modes. Sound on Sound mode
will keep layering what you record on top of what is already recorded,
whereas Overwrite mode will erase what is there and record in its place.
