Part of the anser may depend on what type of music you play.
I play mostly jazz standards and have a Yamaha grand piano at home. For taking to performances, however, I purchased a roland 300GX. The deciding factors for me were: - The acoustic piano sound is very realistic - The keyboard touch is very nice - Certainly not as nice as my Yamaha grand piano (a little too light), but pretty nice. - There is also a nice electric piano sound which I use occasionally when performing Although it has a bunch of other sounds and you can put in effects like reverb, chorus, etc. I never use that stuff (and prefer to do it in sonar when recording). I am very happy with it. When choosing a keyboard, I found that the speakers/amp through which you play it will make a huge difference. Therefore, I RECOMMEND USING HEADPHONES TO COMPARE SOUND AND THEN CHOOSING A SPEAKER/AMP COMBINATION THAT SUITS YOUR NEEDS AND SOUNDS GOOD. --Pete From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Pradip Chandra Sikdar Sent: Tuesday, May 03, 2011 5:50 PM To: JSonar -- JAWS Scripts for Sonar discussion list Subject: [Jsonar] which keyboard I should buy? please reply! dear all, I am planning to buy a new keyboard which will help me to work with sonar as well as perform on the stage as I am a keyboard player of my fusion band "XRaF". of course, I want to buy in an effort-able price which is near about 50000 Indian rupees. personally I like the sounds of "Korg", but please don't recommend me "KORG Kronos Music Workstation" as the price is out of range and I have a doubt, whether it can be operate using buttons or only have to depend on touch screen! :-) as far I know, there is only 1 model called "Korg PA50-SD" which fully controlled by buttons as there is no touch screen. there are also 2 models that's sounds good in my price range. 1 is "Korg PA500-ort" and another 1 is "Korg M50". but I have the same doubt about the touch screen. have anyone any idea about that? can anyone tell me which 1 of those 2 is better? you can also recommend me other than Korg as I want to buy a good keyboard, not the company! :-) 1 more thing I want to tell you frankly. I don't need to change the effects parameters or the other stuff like creating styles or recording songs in my keyboard. I have "Sonar" for that. even whenever I need to do that, I can get help my friends. so, if there is any model where I can easily change the sounds, patches or performances, rhythms, I can use the split functions, duel functions or track select functions, etc., that is enough for me. please reply me. I really mean your suggestions as you all are more professional and experienced persons. -- Regards Pradip Chandra Sikdar you can also mail me to the following address: [email protected]. join me on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pradip.sikdar to catch my band "XRaF" (Experimental Raga and Folk) click the links below: * <http://www.orkut.co.in/Main#Community?cmm=98270109> XRaF in orkut community * <http://www.myspace.com/xraf> XRaF in "MY SPACE" * <http://www.inclusiveplanet.com/en/group/531661> XRaF, beyond bariers | INCLUSIVE PLANET
