Just to clarify, The alternative XML syntax for JSP 1.0 is not
a required or optional component of this version of the specification.
Individual vendors may choose to support such a syntax. The plan is to
develop an appropriate DTD for JSP and introduce the alternative syntax
as a requirement for JSP 1.1.
Therefore I would not recommend users use this alternative form for JSP
1.0
since this will effect the portability of such pages.
The inclusion of the alternative form in JSP 1.0 is intended to send a
string message that XML based technologies are of increasing relevance
to JSP.
