I have wondered about this too. JSPs get converted into Servlets, and
it is actually a servlet (with lots of printlns) which gets executed.
So are there any real advantages of using JSP over directly coding the
servlet?
The major advantage which I can see is that the JSP engine compiles a
changed JSP page on the fly for you. Another is that there is an
additional variable scope if you use JSP (the page scope). The output
stream is buffered by default.. I can't get any other major advantage.
Or for that matter any disadvantages of using Servlets directly..
