For an example of the usefulness of being a Sun Certified Programmer, consider
that IBM has a whole hierarchy of certifications for its VisualAge for Java
products being a Sun Certified Java Programmer is the first step to becoming an
IBM certified developer. My the way I had to get this certification for my job
with IBM.
To make this a bit more relevant to this forum, I'll add that the WebSphere
Developer certifications require detailed knowledge of JSPs and servlets. Right
now this IBM test is based on the JSP .91 spec.
Check out the IBM certification site: www.software.ibm.com/ad/certify. Follow
the VisualAge for Java and WebSphere links. Also check out the links to the new
cross-vendor certification initiative.

Subject: Offtopic: Java Certification
Hiya!
Sorry to those who don't like offtopic mails on mailing lists.
I am interested in going for the Sun Certified Java Programmer test.
What I wanted to know is how beneficial is this certification from
the industry point of view ?
Are companies looking for people with this certification ?
Would like to know if you faced any advantage because of this
certification.
Can a person give the certification exam on just the basis of self
education ? or is training compulsorily required ?
What do I read to able to give this exam ? Your kind help is
appreciated.
-Thank you
If you are not Enjoying it,
then there is no point in doing it.
