I'm very disappointed too. In my JSP development, I struggled without a
events like the ones introduced by ASP. jspInit() falls way short of the
needs of real applications, it is simply like a page_onStart(). Hopefully, a
correction or a "new" mechanism will be in place soon.
Cheers

Subject: JSP Spec 1.1 Comments: Events?
Hi All,
I just took a look at the 1.1 spec and the additional information on
"tag extensions" is very good.
However, I'm disappointed that the spec doesn't include the promised
features:
- Support for application state, "global.jsa"
- Support for event handlers:
- application_onStart
- application_onEnd
- session_onStart
- session_onEnd
I think these features are very important for sophisticated JSP
applications. Will they be added in 1.1?
Please advise. Cheers!
