I *really* don't want to get into a flame war about news vs. mail, but the mail
reader I use (Netscape Communicator) lets you sort mail messages by thread just
like news readers do (in fact, it supports both with essentially the same user
interface). I use message filters to sort the messages for each mailing list I
subscribe to into a different folder, leave that folder sorting by thread, and it
feels just the same.
