I figured out how to make this work, by doing exactly
what you mentioned which is to echo in my super servlet
class the utility methods provided by HttpJspBase.
The next question is this: the jsp1.1 spec mentioned that
the extends mechanism may limit steps taken by the jsp engine
to optimize performance. Has anyone out there experienced this
impact with any app servers?
