(1) Learn Java well enough so that issues of packages, CLASSPATH, and
other FAQs on this and the Servlet list aren't an issue.
(2) Read the Servlet spec.
(3) Read the JSP spec.
(4) Read Jason Hunter's Servlets book. (O'Reilly)
(5) Experiment with the JSP Reference Implementation (either the JWSDK
from Sun, or Jakarta, when it becomes available).
(6) Formulate good questions, and search through the archives for answers.
If there are none, try to solve it and post the answers to the lists.
(7) Be a skeptic--don't believe anything you read here, in books, or in
code. TEST IT.
