Barry,
I think that person was encouraging useful titles so that those who can't
read all the postings can easily determine those which they can help with.
The forum is, after all, about providing help to each other, but if people
don't have time to
go through the many messages posted, they won't help will they? Your point
about English not being some people's first language is valid, but technical
language is mostly English, so surely these people can provide a useful
subject in their
messages.
Finally, the mere fact that you have said the Beatles were crap is deeply
disturbing to me.

I'm lucky - I get enough time to read all of the postings, but if I didn't
I'm sure I wouldn't waste my time complaining about other peoples' requests.
For many of the people that use this forum English is NOT their first
language and I wouldn't imagine that putting together a comprehensive,
technical question is easy. Sure, it wouldn't take much more effort to add a
descriptive title, but it really isn't a big issue.
If I read one of the postings in question and I feel I have help to offer
the sender, I will reply, placing emphasis on the help that I can offer, and
mention the importance of descriptive titles in closing. I wouldn't use any
help I could offer as a chance to bitch about titles. I CERTAINLY wouldn't
email a bitchy reply JUST to complain; That's more of an abuse to this forum
than people genuinely looking for help.
