not *every line*, just those with delimited with  <%  and  %>  &  <%@  and  %>.
doesn't affect lines with expressions [<%= xxxx %>].  as to why, i don't know.
i'm running NT4/SP4 jswdk1.0.1 [just the embedded servlet-runner/jsp engine].
