Ashwani:
request.getHeader( "Referer" ) tells the last page visited. It fails a
little less than 8% of the time overall; however, failure is less often once
in our site (not sure why, but failures, when they occur, happen from the
outside).
Indirectly, comparing the getHeader( "Referrer" ) string the current url
will track a refresh... though not telling you how it was accomplished (i.e.
[refresh] button or through an href link).
