Tomcat from the Apache group is the official reference implementation of
Servlets 2.2 and JSP 1.1 and can work on NT for IIS as well ( Don't ask me
how to set it up but I understand it works ). That would probably be your
best bet as the Servlets 2.2 and JSP 1.1 specs contain a specification for a
web archive (WAR) that allows you to deploy the same jar file on any
compliant container. Of course support for 2.2 and 1.1 is not universal so
when you go to production your choices might be limited. I have not yet
researched when support for these specs will be available from the major
vendors (eg. NewAtlanta, JRun, IBM, et al.). Does anyone out there know?

Tomcat is available at http://jakarta.apache.org.

BTW, why cant you use Apache in NT?

Hope this helps,

Subject: I need recommendations for JSP enabling technologies.

Hello all,

I just joined the list. I am sorry to be such a newbie about it all but I
would
really like some serious recommendations.
Here's the situation. I've got two machine that I need to run Servlets and
JSP
code on:

1- Windows 2000 with IIS 5.0
2- Red Hat Linux 6.0 with Apache

Is there one "best" solution for both or can someone suggest seperate
solutions.
I have tried JRUN 3.0 for thwe windows 2000 machines but just could get it
to
work properly as a Global filter for IIS.
Unfortunately I have no choice but to use IIS. This whole project is a TEST,
and
I must use IIS 5.0

Any comments or suggestions?
