************** Apologies for Cross Postings ***************
Hi! Everyone,

I had posted one query about JDBC Connectivity with Sybase ASE 11.x
Let me brief you of the problems that I have been facing ..

We are working on a environment which includes Solaris 2.5.7 with the
Sybase ASE 11.x database loaded on it(We are not using the Sybase 12.x
version)

With suggestions given through the list I downloaded the JConnect Ver 5
and have been trying to make the JDBC connectivity to the Sybase
Database..but have not been able to do so.I understand that there are
some Sybase specific jar files the path of all has been set properly by
me..I am able to compile the java source and when I am trying to run the
class file it gives me a SQL Runtime error

SQLException No Suitable Driver ,ErrorCode 0 Sql State :08001

My first Question is :- Does Jconnect work with all the versions of
Sybase ASE or is it that it works fine only with the Sybase Ver12.x

Could somebody guide me through the exact procedure that I need to
follow to be able to get through the problem that i am facing.

My Second Question :- I feel that there is something that I am missing
in the setting up of the Sybase Environment at the Server End..Please
let me know the things that we need to do at the server end as well.

My Third Question :- Are there any more by which we can connect to a
Sybase Database on Solaris 2.5.7..It could be a library or some third
party supplied database utilities that works well...DO suggest if there
are any that people in the list have come across and used..

We also need to have the servlets and the javabeans talking to the
database..I would like to know what would suit the best given the kind
of environment we are working in.We need to have very high efficiency in
terms of the response time for each of the database requests thats done
thru a servlet or a javabean.

I am absolutely new to the Sybase Environment and worked mostly with the
DB2 and Oracle databases.
Please let me know how to go about the whole thing..

It would be great if this is responded upon at the earliest..

Thanks in advance!!

Regards,
Biju
