Sounds to me like Phil (and probably others) don't understand what's
really going on.
The viruses like HAPPY99.EXE are redistributed when some idiot (well,
anyone who opens an executable attachment qualifies for this description
IMHO :-) opens this attachment. The virus then rebroadcasts itself to
everyone in your address book -- which can easily include mailing lists
like JSP-INTEREST or SERVLET-INTEREST if they are stored there.
If you want to blame someone, blame the idiot listed as the "From" address
on the message. Of course, they probably didn't do it on purpose --
that's why the "i" word applies.
Disabling attachments on the server isn't a bad idea, but blaming Sun for
sending viruses is quite incorrect.
