Thanks for your prompt answer Mr. Duffey.
However I was more looking for some equivalent of the java runtime
environment (JRE) to the jdk for the jsdk. (did you get that???).
The JRE contains all the classes and a Java virtual machine but doesn't have
all the development tools that come with the JDK. That's exactly what I
want for the JSDK. JSDK stands for Java Servlets Developement Kit... but I
want the Java Servlets Runtime Kit... the "customers" don't need the
development part... that's my problem if you know what I mean.
Thanks for the tip about Resin... I have looked into that a little bit and
it's starting to look real good. I've been using Apache + Tomcat and it's
been a bit of a hazzle... that's what you get when you have two apps trying
to do one thing ;o)
Kind regards,
Stefan

Subject: Re: JSP/Servlet runtime environment???
System Requirements:
Web Server
Servlet Engine (container)
JDK 1.2.2
JSDK 2.2
I recommend you getting Resin, which is a complete Servlet 2.2 and JSP 1.1
implementation and web server in one package, easy to set up and get running
and is very powerful, and open-source and free to use (with the shareware
price of $1500 per server if you use it commercially).
Download Resin 1.1, JDK 1.2.2 and your set.
Actually, I would download JDK 1.3rc1 because the javac compiler is MUCH
faster and it supports SWING applications alot FASTER than JDK 1.2.2, and
its backwards compatible with JDK 1.2.2. Its darn stable now, so there isn't
a reason not to use it, unless you would get into trouble because its beta.
Resin is at www.caucho.com. JDK is at www.javasoft.com or java.sun.com (same
site..but sometimes one works and the other doesn't.)
Good luck.
