This is a feature of the Applet security model - it's nothing you're doing.
An applet may only open a socket to speak with the machine it was downloaded
from. If a client downloads the applet from a server at IP address
111.22.333.44, the applet can open a socket connection to 111.22.333.44 but
NOWHERE ELSE. Anything you want to contact DIRECTLY via a socket from your
applet MUST reside on 111.22.333.44 (the <client:ip> you mentioned below).
