I have now confirmed three sources that work or worked at Oracle that have
all told me not to even consider it. The OAS is a piece of garbage from all
3 employees words. One of them now works for us. Another is a guy working on
the project. He told me they are considering scrapping the project for the
better DB WEB project that ties the web server to the database. OAS doesn't
even have support for JSP 1.0 and from my understanding wont be J2EE
compliant for a long time to come, if at all.

If you go with OAS, your looking at tieing yourself to a proprietary
solution. The other thing is..do you really want to trust a database company
with web application server? I sure wouldn't. I would rather pick and choose
the best components and get them all working together. WebLogic is a great
choice. WebSphere from IBM, even though they have the best database on the
market, is actually a decent product, although the latest release I hear is
buggy. The nice thing about IBM WebSphere is it includes IBM WebStudio that
allows drag and drop of JavaBeans to JSP pages for rapid development of web
pages.

I would stick with Oracle or IBM for the database, then choose something
like WebLogic or iPlanet for the app server. Ofcourse, my personal choice
would be to use Orion App Server for its simplistic use, speed, and very
cheap price.

Subject: Oracle Application Server?

Hello,

My company in planning to buy complete Oracle E-business Suite. Can anyone
tell me about their experience with the Oracle Application Server(OAS)?

I remember reading something like it did not live up to expectations and
Oracle is planning to replace it with a new product. Does anyone know
anything about it or direct me to relevant&objective resources?

Thanks in advance

Note: I am aware of JDJ and www.flashline.com evaluations.
