Yes J2EE supports LDAP protocol. you can use JNDI to access LDAP Server.
 LDAP Server is a Directory server and it is basically used as a repository
for "lookup" kind of application. For example you can think of directory as
a "white Page" of a telephone directory. It can be used to keep any lookup
information about any resources on the network.
I Planet calendar is free I guess and it supports standard calendar prorocol
, CAP ( Calendar Access Protocol)
