The question regarding "good" reference books has come up a number of times
in this listing. I would like to add my opinion on a "good" book.

"Professional Java Server Programming" by Wrox press.

This book is a heavy-weight, over 1000 pages. It starts with one short
chapter explaining basic web technologies; CGI, API, NSAPI, ISAPI, ASP, JSP,
Java Servlets, and others. Then moves through servlets, error handling,
event logging, sessions, dynamic content, JSP's, Databases, Connection
pooling, and a plethora of other subjects. The best part is the
appendix...there are many. One for HTTP, Java Object Streams and
Serialization, Cryptography and Servlets, LogWriter Class, UML Notation,
JServ Install and config for Linux and windows, Servlet Runner and JRun
config, as well as an excellent JSDK, JSP and JDBC API Reference. Also, if
your interested it covers XML, RMI, CORBA, JNDI, JavaMail, JINI and EJBeans.
Basically it's the mother load of reference books.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
