Without the details of how your custom tag is written, it's hard to be real helpful
on this particular problem.  However, I wrote a tag similar to this, which is in
the "jakarta-taglibs" project at <http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs>.  Check out
the "apply" tag in the XSL subproject.
