We have hosted our site on the iPlanet Web Server,
Enterprise Edition 4.1. The site is working fine in
Netscape 4.5 and above but NOT in IE 5.0 and above.
Our site is developed using JSP 1.1 and extensively
uses sessions.
But surprisingly the site works well in Intranet but
not on Internet. On the Internet we have installed
Iplanet webserver & Database on two different M/c, Web
Server has two Network Cards, one of is on Valid
Internet IP & other connects Database Server on
private IP.
The web pages can access the database in both the
browsers. The exact problem is that in IE the session
is not recognised. For each page a new session is
created by the server. I have displayed the headers
send by each browser to the server. In those headers I
noticed that the cookie header is not passed in IE and
sessions uses cookies. The cookies are enabled in the
browser.I am using session.putValue ,session.getValue to put
and get values of session.I tried session.setAttribute,
session.getAttribute but it also gave same problems.
The same browser IE implements session using
other webservers like JWS, Apache + Resin etc.
This problem of IE is only with iPlanet web server.
