Hi Thanks for ur reply,

My question now is, without installing any client utility for the database in the
local machine, how can i connect to the database in the remote machine. You have told
that we need to specify the ip address. Where should i need to specify that IP
address(i.e how can i tell the driver to point this ip address).
Also, i have both type2 and type3 driver provided by IBM to access the DB2. I am
confused which one to choose. to be frank i don't know what issues to be considered
while choosing the driver. I don't find much difference between driver type 2 and 3.

Replies are highly appreciated.

Subject: DB2 Database in a separate machine and Webserver in a separate
machine.

Hi all,
In my webapplication, both webserver and the database is installed in the
same machine. When i refer the database in my JSP's it is identifying it
and does the necessary operations. What happens if i install my database
(DB2) in another machine? But my JSP's are still in the old machine. My
question is how can my JSP's can connect to the database installed in the
another machine? Can any body throw a light on this matter? Please tell me
what are the requirements and steps to follow.
