Hi! Does this mean that forward can happen to a page, with is also, located on the same server. Regards, Nagendra Placed At : Hiren Dossani <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> on 08/09/2000 11:23:58 PM Please respond to A mailing list about Java Server Pages specification and reference <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] cc: (bcc: Nagendra R/Satyam) Subject: Re: redirect and forward, the difference Dear Brad Miley, When a Servlet or a JSP resource chooses to redirect the client using response.sendRedirect(url), the request object does not reach the second resource directly since the underlying implementation is an HTTP redirect. The server sends an HTTP 302 messages back to the client telling it that the resource has been moved to another url and that the client should access it there. In forward mechanism, the request object is forwarded to the second resource, thus maintaining any object binding to the request and its state, without a round trip to the client on the network. Hope I answered your question.
